Venkatappa Art Gallery exhibits paintings, musical instruments, and plaster of Paris bas reliefs created by K Venkatappa.
The bas reliefs of Drona teaching archery to the Pandavas and Ekalavya practicing archery is remarkable. The paintings depicting the sceneries from Mysore, Ooty, and Kodaikanal are par excellence. There are paintings of Krishnaraja Wodeyar and Abanindranath Tagore which are masterpieces.
The Art Gallery has also a collection of musical instruments prepared and played by great artists. You will also come across paint brushes and painting materials used by K Venkatappa. The display also consists of prizes and awards won by the artist.
How to Reach Venkatappa Art Gallery
The Art Gallery is in Kasturba Road (Bengaluru) next to Government Museum and Visvesvaraya Technological Museum.
You will have to buy tickets (Rs. 20) in the Government Museum and carry the same ticket to Art Gallery. You can explore the museum first and then head to the art gallery.
Do not worry about the parking, there’s ample space for cars and motorcycles on the museum premises. It’s pay and park.
