Yet another lockdown in the city! Thankfully the government has allowed restaurants to operate for takeaway customers. But the public should get into their house before 10 am. So I decided to explore some restaurants in my neighborhood and here’s Sukh Sagar Kammanahalli.
The Sukh Sagar restaurant has several branches in the city and the one I am discussing here is on Kammanahalli main road, Bengaluru. This is a perfect vegan joint for those looking for comfortable seating and quality food on a budget.
Try this restaurant if you are anywhere in the Kammanahalli area or nearby. The restaurant is open all days of the week and you can plan for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their menu offers an exhaustive list of items that includes south Indian, north Indian, and Chinese food. I am regular here for south Indian breakfast.
I have come to this restaurant several times before the lockdown and I feel the restaurant’s ambiance is pretty decent. I felt comfortable having breakfast there with my family and friends. The food is good, I liked the taste and appreciate the quality as well.
The first floor is supposed to be a service hall but it is closed most of the time. When there is no lockdown, the customer can dine on the ground floor. However, there is no table service and you have to serve yourself.
You got to buy the tokens at the cash counter and exchange it for food at the food counter. This process may take 5-10 minutes so better grab your seat during the waiting period.
Due to the lockdown, the restaurant is open for takeaway customers only. I took full precautions, wore a mask and carried hand sanitizer with me. I appeal to you too to take precautions while venturing out and ensure you wear a mask. Please go out only if it is necessary.
We were two at home and so planned to take home Masala Dosa and Idli Vada & Sambar.
You will enjoy the Masala Dosa when it is hot and when you eat it in the restaurant. If you intend to carry it home, ensure to consume it as soon as possible. The more time you allow the harder it becomes and you will not be able to enjoy it.
The crispy Masala Dosa, the mashed potatoes inside it, the coconut chutney, and the sweetish sambar – this is my all-time favorite.
The Idly Vada and Sambar is an evergreen combination or should I say a “healthy combination.” The Idly’s got the neutral taste and it is the sambar and chutney that tingles your taste buds. But I felt the coconut chutney could have been a little spicier.
When it comes to Idli Vada & Sambar, you get the best in Bengaluru. Many restaurants in the garden city are famous for Idly and I am going to cover them all.
I like the restaurants that accept multiple modes of payment. Even today, some big outlets insist on payment by cash and that’s very bad. At Sukh Sagar Kammanahalli, you can pay by cash, card, and UPI and I like this flexibility.
There’s public parking space for cars and motorcycles. Ensure you park it correctly to avoid fines.
I am not sure about the timings but the restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Just drop in a 7.45 – 11.45 am for breakfast.
Consider coming here if you are in the locality or nearby. It’s a good one for relaxed dining with the family. There are more restaurants on Kammanahalli main road that I wish to cover. You can check all of them here. Recently, I posted about the coastal food in the same locality, check it out as well.
Did you know “Vidyarthi Bhavan” is a famous restaurant in Bengaluru? Not only this, there are many restaurants in Bengaluru that are popular for some or the other dishes. I plan to cover them all.
New to Bengaluru? Then you should explore some places.
Have you come across any good restaurants? Please suggest in the comment.
